Frequently asked questions
Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation to help you access a calm, focused state where the mind is more open to positive change. In this state, we can work with the subconscious patterns that influence how you think, feel and respond.
You remain aware and in control throughout. Hypnosis is not about being unconscious or made to do anything against your will — it is a natural state similar to being deeply absorbed in a book or drifting before sleep.
People seek support for many different reasons, including:
• Anxiety and stress
• Sleep difficulties
• Confidence and self-belief
• Overthinking
• Habits and behaviours
• Feeling stuck or overwhelmed
• High-functioning anxiety
• Burnout
Even if your situation doesn’t fit neatly into a category, you are welcome to reach out.
This varies from person to person and depends on your goals and what you are experiencing. Some people notice positive changes within a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer course of work to address deeper patterns. We will discuss this together so you feel clear and comfortable with the process.
Your first session focuses on understanding you — your experiences, goals and what you would like to change. We will talk through how your nervous system responds to stress, what may be maintaining the issue, and how we can begin supporting change. If appropriate, we may also begin gentle hypnotherapy in the first session.
No. You remain aware, in control and able to stop at any time. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process — you cannot be made to do anything you don’t want to do.
Most people can enter a hypnotic state because it is a natural ability. It is not about “trying hard” — it is about allowing yourself to relax and follow guidance. I tailor the approach to suit you, so there is no pressure to perform or do it perfectly.
My approach is gentle, trauma-aware and paced according to what feels safe for you. We do not force you to revisit anything before you are ready. The focus is on building stability, safety and regulation first. If you are unsure, you are welcome to contact me to discuss your situation confidentially.
Yes. Sessions are available online as well as in person. Online hypnotherapy can be just as effective, provided you have a quiet, comfortable space where you will not be disturbed.
I use an integrative approach combining:
• Hypnotherapy
• Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
• Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT tapping)
• Somatic body-based techniques
This allows us to work with both the mind and body, because lasting change happens when your nervous system begins to feel safe.
Hypnotherapy is a complementary approach and does not replace medical care, psychiatric treatment or counselling where these are needed. If appropriate, I may suggest you speak with your GP or another professional for additional support.
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed or tired of just coping, this may be a helpful next step. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
